Opposition leader Rich Coleman has released critic roles for the B.C. Liberal caucus, focusing on protecting jobs and maintaining a strong economy so that all British Columbians benefit.

Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes has been appointed to Critic of Small Business. Being the former Minister of Small Business, this is the position that Oakes hoped to receive. Oakes knows the importance the small business sector plays in the economy of our province.

“Together, thriving small businesses create sustainable economic growth, which benefits communities as a whole. It makes life better for people, for families.

“These are reasons why protecting and supporting small businesses are so important to me.

“Working with the Chamber of Commerce for so many years, I have witnessed how passionate and hardworking business owners are. They need a voice in government, and I will be that voice.”

“Two glaring omissions from the NDP cabinet are small business and the rural economy,” Coleman added.

“Both heavily contribute to the backbone of our province’s economy so our shadow cabinet features critics who will ensure these issues are front and centre.

“We will make the NDP remember the importance of small business and the economy to all British Columbians.”
