No major issues during Billy Barker Days says RCMP

The 46th annual Billy Barker Days Festival was held July 14-17

It was a relatively quiet Billy Barker Days for the Quesnel RCMP.

Additional resources assisted throughout the four-day festival that wrapped up Sunday, July 17, at LeBourdais Park.

“Everybody seemed to be having a safe and good weekend,” said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch, Operations NCO for the Quesnel detachment.

“Overall, it was a good event, and we didn’t have any major issues to speak of. Most people were well behaved and arranged for sober rides home from the events they’d gone to.”

While RCMP did issue some roadside prohibitions and made several arrests, mostly for outstanding warrants, Kronebusch said he believes there were just two alcohol-related arrests for people overindulging.

Kronebusch worked throughout Billy Barker Days and had a good time himself.

“Everybody I talked to seemed to be really enjoying themselves and were glad that the event was back on,” he added. “The weather was decent for it, and everybody seemed to have fun.”
