Another Quesnel restaurant has run afoul of COVID-19 provincial rules.
Granville’s Coffee in downtown Quesnel was shut down by Northern Health on Monday, Dec. 13. Northern Health sent the diner a warning letter on Oct. 27, noting they were not checking for proof of vaccination.
Granville’s president and CEO Ted Martindale posted an update on Facebook, calling the vaccine passport system “devastating.”
“We are pretty much staying open to keep staff employed and to serve customers who depend on us,” a post on the Granville’s Updates Facebook page reads.
“Someone slipped through the cracks and dined in so we got shut down today.”

A sign on the restaurant underneath a request for customers to have their vaccine passport ready says Granville’s is “Temporary Closed.”
In his post, Martindale accused the “corporate competition” of also not checking vaccine passports, questioning if he was being singled out.
“We could just say we will be good boys and girls and open right away,” he wrote.
“However, at the age of 75 I think I will just sit back for a bit and contemplate my navel. I am sick and tired of the whole thing.”
Martindale said in the comments of the post he plans to open on Christmas Day with everything given away.
“I know people were going to ask me about the pass…. for that day I had my answer ready….. ‘What would Jesus do,’” he wrote.
The Cariboo Hotel was shut down for a weekend in November by Northern Health due to the same issue, but re-opened just a few days later.
