One arrested in Quesnel after reports of a gun at apartment near shopping mall

The man was taken into RCMP custody without incident

Shoppers were on edge late Wednesday morning (Oct. 12) as the Quesnel RCMP had their weapons drawn at an apartment complex near Save-On-Foods at West Park Mall.

One man was arrested after officers surrounded the green-coloured building across from the grocery store and climbed the brown stairs to the upper-level unit.

Quesnel RCMP media relations officer Sgt. Clay Kronebusch said before 10 a.m., police responded to a report of a man who was possibly in possession of a firearm.

He was taken into custody without incident.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Kronebusch said.

No further information is available at this time.
