Nicholas Raymond Turner has been sentenced after several break and enters and thefts in Wells, Bowron Lakes and Likely in July 2018.
Turner, 38, has been found guilty of one count of taking/occupying a vehicle without consent of the owner and six counts of being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He also has been found guilty of being unlawfully in a dwelling – taking a sentence for a lesser charge than the original, which was breaking and entering with intent to commit an offence.
He has been sentenced to one day in jail and 12 months’ probation, plus has been ordered to pay victim surcharges.
Turner was arrested on July 24, 2018 by the Wells RCMP. The officers located and seized a “vast amount of property,” according to a press release, which they believed to have been stolen during thefts in the three communities. The stolen property was mainly mining, camping and outdoor related items.
Along with Turner, Tania Jordanov was charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent; break & enter with intent to commit an indictable offence; and being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Jordanov is not currently being held in custody and is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Oct. 16 in Quesnel Provincial Court.
