The jaws of life needed to be used to extract a person after a truck rolled onto its roof after crashing while entering downtown Quesnel just before midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

A white truck was travelling from south Quesnel to downtown when it crashed. The truck ended up on the other side of the road barrier, across the highway from the Fraser River Park.

The truck came to rest 40 yards from a light pole, which was broken in half.

The crash is in a similar spot to another rollover earlier this year.

The vehicle not only flipped on its roof, it also turned 180 degrees during the crash, with the front of the vehicle facing the Quesnel River Bridge.

Debris from the truck was littered across the green space and walking trail which runs parallel to the highway.

The man was talking with paramedics as he was being loaded into an ambulance. Police and fire crews were also on the scene.

The severity of the man’s injuries are unknown.

Highway 97 was closed for around an hour, as BC Hydro crews worked to clear the road.
