PHOTOS: Confirming truth, pledging reconciliation in Quesnel

Lhtako Dene Park hosted day of expression, healing

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was celebrated in Quesnel at Lhtako Dene Park, on the site the Lhtako people have gathered upon for events large and small for millennia.

Many dignitaries, honoured elders, and people from all walks of life attended by the Fraser River to learn about past transgressions against First Nations by colonial incomers, the resilience of the survivors, and the pathways to now establish a mutually supportive future. Many children were in attendance to remind all involved about the generations that must be the focus of the reconciliation that comes from these truths.
