Quesnel RCMP confirmed they are investigating an altercation between two people at the Northern Network of Peers for Equality (NOPE) which occurred in the early evening on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Police say they were called to the hospital around 7:30 p.m., after a 36-year-old man was brought in with life-threatening injuries.

“The suspect, who has been identified, and the victim, are known to each other and police do not believe there is any further risk to the public,” an RCMP news release reads.

Police tape lined the front door of the NOPE offices on St. Laurent Avenue in the morning of Dec. 9 and RCMP were seen investigating in the area.

The group was one of the main organizations which stepped up to fill the gap after the Salvation Army Warrior’s Song Café food bank closed in November.

Rear access was also restricted and police tape surrounded the entire back lot of the building from businesses Frisky to RE/MAX Quesnel Realty.

“The investigation is ongoing and police would like to speak to anyone who may have information regarding this assault,” said Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Quesnel RCMP at (250) 992-9211.
