News of the fire at Nourish Food Bank has reached Prince George's Primetime Wrestling and they're committed to helping the food bank restock.
“We don’t present matches in Quesnel, but some of our wrestlers live there and we feel that this is the type of disaster that calls upon us to be a good neighbour”, said Primetime Wrestling CEO Davy Greenlees in a news release. “We are organizing a food drive through our ticket outlets and our live events in the coming weeks to help replenish the supplies and ensure that families in need don’t go without.”
Primetime will accept food donations at their next matches on May 16 and May 17 and fans who bring donations will have the chance to win prizes. Donations can also be dropped off at their ticket outlets in Prince George: Scrapbook Zone, J & A Stereo Plus and the GOAT radio station.
The May 17 match will have Quesnel's Rebel Knoxville enter the ring with partner Donnie Brooks to challenge for the Primetime tag team titles against the winner of the May 16 match.
"It is expected that Knoxville will have a little extra motivation to bring home the gold in this title fight," the release said.
Greenlees and Stuart Brown have raised more than $30,000 in donations over the past two years through their wrestling events.
Nourish Food Bank and Sprout Kitchen, located at 101 Marsh Drive in Quesnel, were severely damaged in a fire on May 5. Fundraisers have begun and the community in Quesnel, and beyond, have rallied to help support the food bank and the businesses affected.
Nourish helps around 500 households in Quesnel each month, over 350 of those are households with children.
The Primetime Wrestling matches on May 16 and May 17 will be held at the Prince George Civic Centre, donations from the food drive will be delivered on May 21.
