A chiropractor in Quesnel is running for city council in the upcoming municipal election.

Michael Duperron hopes to add his experience in the health field to solving key local issues such as doctor shortages and rising crime.

”I think there are a couple of things that I’ve noticed gradually degrading in our town, so it’s an attempt to try and help add a voice to things,” he said from his chiropractic clinic in downtown Quesnel.

”This my first attempt in any political sphere, so I don’t know what I’m in for, but I’ll learn as I go.”

Duperron filed his nomination papers on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

He graduated from the Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon.

Duperron has called Quesnel home for more than 20 years.

In his spare time, Duperron enjoys spending time with his family and children, ages four and nine.

“We love Quesnel, so I think that’s another reason I try to have a voice,” he added.
