After serving as the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) first vice-president for the past year, Quesnel city councillor Laurey-Anne Roodenburg was acclaimed and installed as the president of the organization at their convention on Sept. 17.
Roodenburg is joined on the executive board by first vice-president Jen Ford (Resort Municipality of Whistler), second vice-president, Ange Qualizza (City of Fernie Mayor) and third vice-president Claire Moglove (City of Campbell River).

“Our new UBCM executive is ready to move forward on the numerous concerns discussed at this year’s convention, ranging from local government financial challenges, to dealing with the potential impacts of another devastating heatwave in the future,” Roodenburg said in a news release.
“The discussions at our virtual convention gave us the direction we need to address the many local governance and other issues facing BC’s municipalities today.”
The UBCM works to allow local governments to share experiences and advocate for members.
