The Quesnel Downtown Association (QDA) is inviting shoppers to get a jumpstart on their spring shopping while having the opportunity to enter a prize draw.

From Monday, April 25 to Saturday, April 30, the second annual Walk! Talk! Shop! event will be taking place at participating downtown businesses.

“It’s the Downtown Association welcoming everybody downtown for the new season,” said QDA director and promotions committee chair Donna Jacobsen, noting people have been incredibly supportive of local business throughout the pandemic.

“All of the merchants realize that and noticed a big difference, so these different promotions and events are a way for us to say thank you for supporting us.”

The event was well-received last year.

While the full effects of high inflation and how shoppers respond has yet to be seen, Jacobsen said the QDA hopes to grow their annual spring sale event to be as big as their Moonlight Madness.

“There’s a lot of hopefulness around shopping local,” she added. ”It’s not just in Quesnel but all across the country, so I guess time will tell.”

This year’s prize draw is for $500 downtown bucks.
