Quesnel Fire Department responds to structure fire on Dragon Lake Road

Call came in early Wednesday morning, Nov. 17

It was an early Wednesday morning for the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department (QVFD) that responded to a house fire on Dragon Lake Road.

Firefighters were dispatched to the blaze on Nov. 17 at 5:07 a.m. after a motorist on Highway 97 alerted emergency responders of the incident.

“Upon arrival, we had a fully engulfed structure fire,” Fire Chief Ron Richert said.

“And we sent out a second group to engage, and we also called in Kersley for some water support.”

The homeowners were not home at the time of the blaze.

At 9:30 a.m., firefighters were still on scene, and Richert said they would likely be staying for another 45 minutes or so.

“We have no hydrants out here, so we had to shuttle water back and forth,” he said.

The cause of the fire is not known.

Richert said the home was severely damaged.
