On Feb. 7, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure invites the public to provide feedback on short-, medium- and long-term options to improve the Highway 97 corridor through Quesnel.
Ministry staff will be at the open house at the Quesnel & District Seniors’ Centre from 3 to 7 p.m.
Ministry staff will be attending to answer questions and collect input for the Quesnel Transportation Plan, which is nearing completion.
Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes urges members of the public to attend the meeting to discuss the transportation study, which is the truck route and the safety corridor up the hill on Highway 97.
“We’ve had a lot of accidents along that corridor – Racing Road and Racing-Hydraulic Road. We have to revisit where the lights are and how to make it easier for people to come in and out of that area.”
Mayor Bob Simpson wants people to show up at the Seniors’ Centre to hear about what the ministry has in mind for the heavy truck bypass.
The ministry will also provide information on plans to reconfigure the laning on part of Front Street to increase safety and improve traffic flow through the community.
