The City of Quesnel and Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s (MOTI’s) open house on a proposed Highway 97 interconnector was packed yesterday (Feb. 19), as residents lined up around the building at the Quesnel Seniors’ Centre waiting to get in.

More than 850 people came to the meeting between 3 and 7 p.m., and viewed poster boards of plans for the interconnector.

Mayor Bob Simpson was present, as were a handful of MOTI representatives including Shawn Clough, the senior project manager for the bypass. Throughout the meeting they were surrounded by Quesnel residents with concerns and questions.

Pick up a copy of the Quesnel Cariboo Observer tomorrow (Feb. 21) for more details on the interconnector and the meeting.
