An eighth COVID-19 exposure event has been identified in Quesnel School District.
Northern Health (NH) confirmed an exposure occurred in Quesnel Junior School on Tuesday, May 4 and Wednesday, May 5.
“Please be reassured that the current COVID safety plans in our schools, when followed correctly, are very effective in preventing transmission,” NH said in a May 18 letter to parents, guardians, staff and students.
The exposure was reported to parents on the school’s Facebook page on Tuesday, May 18.
Staff or students identified as a close contact will be directly notified by public health and asked to isolate for 14 days from their last date of possible exposure.
An exposure in School District 28 was detected at Correlieu Secondary recently.
Key symptoms of coronavirus include cough, fever, chills, loss of taste and smell, nausea, diarrhea and shortness of breath.
