UPDATED: Trial date set Quesnel local charged with murder, attempted murder

Kristopher Edward Leclair is charged in relation to a July 2018 fatal stabbing

UPDATE, 3:30 p.m.:

Kristopher Edward Leclair, who was charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of attempt to commit murder, has been scheduled to go to trial on June 3, 2019.

The case will be set before a judge.

ORIGINAL:

Kristopher Edward Leclair, 32, who was charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of attempt to commit murder in a fatal stabbing which allegedly occurred on July 21, 2018, is set to appear in the Quesnel Law Courts today for a bail hearing.

Leclair, who has been in custody since he was charged, is accused in the stabbing death of a 48-year-old man and the stabbing of a 52-year-old woman, which left her in critical condition in the hospital. There has been no update on the female victim’s condition since the alleged stabbing took place.

The incident took place at a residence on Hilborn Road, in the Two Mile Flat area, over the same weekend as Quesnel’s 2018 Billy Barker Days Festival. The victims’ names have not been released.

According to a press release from the North District Major Crime Unit, Leclair turned himself into Quesnel RCMP on the same day as the alleged stabbing.
