Quesnel man in custody after stabbing

One man was stabbed after he refused to hand over a cigarette.

One man was stabbed after he refused to hand over a cigarette.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at 7-11 convenience store located on Marsh Drive.

Witnesses called 911 to report an altercation between two males and advised that one of the men was armed with a knife.

Investigation determined a 30-year-old male suspect had pulled the knife and stabbed a 31-year-old male after the male refused to provide him with a cigarette.

The victim suffered a non life threatening stab wound to his arm.

Quesnel RCMP responded and had the 30-year-old suspect in custody in less than five minutes of receiving the call.

The male was arrested and faces charges of assault with a weapon, robbery and two counts of failing to comply with recognizance conditions.

The male has been remanded and will appear in court Tuesday.09:58:34
