Quesnel population steady according to 2021 census

The city of Quesnel and most surrounding areas grew slightly

Quesnel’s population remained steady when comparing 2021 to 2016. According to Statistics Canada, 9,889 people were living in Quesnel at the time of the census. In 2016, 9,879 people were living in the city.

Quesnel is the 62nd largest municipality in B.C., and the 434th largestst in Canada.

Neighbouring Cariboo Regional District areas showed similar low levels of growth.

Lhtako Dene First Nation went from 107 to 110 people.

Cariboo Area C, which includes Barkerville and Bowron, went from 1,225 to 1,239. Cariboo Area B, which includes Bouchie Lake and Quesnel West, grew from 3,842 to 3,864. Cariboo Area A, which includes Red Bluff and Quesnel South dropped from 6,234 to 6,169.

The district of Wells grew by a single person, and now sits at 218 people.

Just over 5 million people now live in B.C., a 7.6 per cent increase when compared to 2016.
