The public Remembrance Day ceremony in Quesnel has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to COVID-19.

The Quesnel Royal Canadian Legion made the announcement on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

“Our main responsibility is the safe3ty of our veterans and of course we must also comply with the most recent COVID restrictions for the Northern Health Region,” Ian Campbell, the Legion’s Remembrance Day Co-ordinator said in a news release.

Campbell added wreaths will be laid by Legion members on the morning on November 11, and asked everyone to still mark a two minute silence during Remembrance Day, even if not at a ceremony.

“During this time of reflection, Canadians pause to honour, thank and remember our fallen,” Campbell said.

“If you are able, wherever you are, please join Canadians across the country at 11 a.m. as they observe two minutes of silence to honour our veterans.”
