Quesnel RCMP cruiser gets stuffed with donations

Second Stuff a Cruiser a success

The Quesnel RCMP is thankful this holiday season.

Hundreds of toys and pounds of food were donated by Quesnel area residents at the second annual Stuff the Cruiser Campaign held Saturday, Dec. 11, and Sunday, Dec. 12 at West Park Mall.

Donations of non-perishable food, clothing, hygiene products, toys and cash were accepted by police officers in red serge uniforms for the local Salvation Army, Seniors Living Society and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Quesnel RCMP Operations NCO Sgt. Richard Weseen said the two-day event raised 1,071 pounds of food, 671 individual toys, $445 in gift cards and $3,819.80 in cash.

2021 was a challenging year with the pandemic and environmental disasters adding to the stress and financial burden to many families in the Cariboo, according to organizer Cst. Colton Walch.

“This event was a true testament to the spirit of giving and the caring that Quesnel residents showed by providing necessities to people that are struggling over the holidays,” Walch said in a news release.

The Quesnel RCMP thanks everyone who supported the campaign including West Park Mall for the use of their lot, Active Rent-All who donated the use of an enclosed trailer and donated another trailer full of toys, and the RCMP staff that volunteered their time to help with the event.
