The Quesnel School District has extended the nomination period until 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, after falling short of candidates to fill future seats on the Board of Education.
The Quesnel Board of Education consists of seven trustees serving a four-year term.
Five trustee hopefuls are on the preliminary list for this year’s school board election.
As of 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, the following candidates have been nominated: Lisa Boudreau, Melissa Huska, David Chapman (incumbent), Tony Goulet (incumbent) and Julie-Anne Runge (incumbent).
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected and hold office as school trustee if they are a Canadian citizen; 18 years of age or older on general voting day; resident of B.C. for at least six months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed and not disqualified under the School Act, any other enactment or by law.
Nomination forms can be picked up at School District 28 (Quesnel) at 401 North Star Road during regular business hours.
