An online video claims to depict someone riding an ice flow down the Fraser River in Quesnel. This is a screen-still from the video posted by ColtonWilliams151 on TikTok.

A video posted to social media has been turning heads in Quesnel.

Footage posted to TikTok earlier this month appears to be showing a person riding a large chunk of ice, known as an ice floe, down the Fraser River in Quesnel, according to the account that posted it.

In less than a week, the video has garnered over 1.1 million views.

The speed and temperature of any local river during iceberg season can make it incredibly dangerous. As the ground thaws, snowmelt and erosion can cause riverbanks to be unstable.

It’s unclear how or where the person jumped off the large piece of ice. The Quesnel Cariboo Observer has reached out to RCMP for details.
