Nine people have been arrested after five vehicles were reported stolen from five different locations in the Quesnel area between July 23 at 11:30 p.m. and July 24 at 4:30 p.m., the Quesnel RCMP says.

All five vehicles have been recovered, and RCMP say they are processing them for further evidence. Two of the vehicles, a black Saturn sedan and a silver and red Ford F250, were recovered with the help of Williams Lake RCMP. A third vehicle was recovered with assistance from the Prince George RCMP. The other two vehicles were recovered by Quesnel RCMP.

The nine suspects were arrested in the five stolen vehicles. Police say there is the potential for additional arrests to be made in relation to the stolen cars and trucks, pending further investigation.

An RCMP news release says Quesnel’s Crime Reduction Unit also recovered an unoccupied pick-up truck reported stolen from Prince George earlier in the week. The pick-up is being processed for forensic evidence by the Quesnel RCMP Property Crime Examiner, explains the release.

“The Quesnel RCMP continues to work closely with the surrounding RCMP Detachments in combatting property crime and this was displayed yesterday with the success of having all these criminals located and arrested,” says Staff Sergeant Andrew Burton, Quesnel Detachment commander.

Quesnel RCMP reminds the public to take measures to safeguard their property as police are still finding people are leaving vehicle keys and other valuables inside their vehicles.
