A search warrant for firearms resulted in the arrest of at least one person on Thursday, Oct. 13, by the Quesnel RCMP and the North District Emergency Response Team (NERT).

Police executed the search warrant at around 2 p.m. at a residence in the 600 block of Fir Street.

Because some of the occupants did not comply with police commands to exit the residence, diversionary tactics were deployed, noted Quesnel RCMP media relations officer Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.

“Some residents in the area reported the sounds of gunshots in the area. I can confirm that there were no shots fired during this incident,” Kronebusch said. “There is still a police presence in the area as police continue their investigation.”

All subjects were safely taken into custody.

The Quesnel RCMP is anticipated to provide a news release with further details regarding the incident on Friday, Oct. 14.
