I have worked at the government liquor in downtown Quesnel for 5 years. Before that I had my own tourism operation, Trout Tales Fly Fishing Adventures. I took great pride in bringing people to our beautiful province.
I have been very fortunate to volunteer and work with kids, youth and adults in many different recreation and social courses and programs.
I have been extensively trained in Restitution (Justice Circles), Roots of Empathy and Conflict Resolution and have worked with at risk and special needs youth.
I have been Referee In Chief for minor hockey for ten years. I have also volunteered with the Quesnel Millionaires and Kangaroos.
It is an exciting time for Quesnel. We have an opportunity to elect people with new vision and ideas. We have some important issues that need to be resolved. I will listen to the people of our city and work tirelessly to see that our goals are accomplished.
We need growth in our community and one way to achieve this is to aggressively promote tourism in our area. We have everything we need and there is zero cost to the citizens for infrastructure. The lakes (which get stocked annually with hundreds of thousands of fish), rivers, mountains and backcountry are here. There is funding available for marketing and promotion. The economy of downtown and the surrounding area will benefit. Accommodation, restaurants, theatres etc. will all see profits. It’s sustainable, green and diversifies our economy.
I would also like to see affordable accredited housing. Promote the development of low cost housing that is screened by the city. A web page will list places that are: cost effective, clean, safe (in-house security cameras), close to transit etc. Now young families, or the elderly that are downsizing can trust that we have their best interests at heart.
