Heavy rain is in the forecast for the Cariboo and North Thompson regions Tuesday, May 23.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Tuesday noting rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are anticipated, with highest amounts near the mountains, particularly east-facing slopes.
With the heavy rain comes the risk of flooding and debris flow.
“A significant and slow-moving low pressure system over central Alberta will spread rain into British Columbia. Rain, at times heavy, will continue through tonight,” noted the Environment Canada website.
It is presently 9 C in Williams Lake with lows of 7 C overnight. On Wednesday the temperature is anticipated to rise to 17 C with periods of rain.
Sunshine is expected to return Thursday, May 25 and into the weekend with highs of 25 C Thursday, 26 C Friday and 22 C Saturday through Monday.
