City of Quesnel will be expanding the #2 Red Bluff route into Westland

Starting Sept. 6, transit customers will be able to travel to the Westland area on #2 Red Bluff via South Hills.

This new transit service was introduced as a result of community feedback and will be monitored for customer use for a period of one year.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to run this pilot project in an area that has requested service,” Mayor Mary Sjostrom said.

“The City of Quesnel supports public transit and has a great working relationship with BC Transit and our operators, Five Five Transport.”

“BC Transit’s role is to ensure that the service we provide meets the needs of our customers,” President and CEO of BC Transit, Manuel Achadinha said.

“Public feedback is essential to help us build effective and efficient service.”

If transit use is successful, service to the Westland area may be permanently included to the schedule.

In addition to the expansion on Westland Road, other route schedules have been modified to appropriately reflect customer demand.

Due to low customer use, service to Carson will be reduced and service into the CNC/UNBC campus will be eliminated on #2 Red Bluff via South Hills.

Furthermore, service along North Fraser Drive will be reduced to five trips every weekday on #3 North Fraser.
