The owners of the house destroyed by fire on Monday, Feb. 8 were treated for smoke inhalation according to assistant fire chief Ron Richert.

Firefighters were called to 520 Anderson Drive in West Quesnel after 3:30 p.m. They would remain on scene until after 9:00 p.m.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Richard Weseen said traffic along Anderson Drive was affected until after the department left.

Aside from the home, which was destroyed, two buildings next to it also suffered damage. Over 20 firefighters responded to the call.

Richert thanked the Bliss Restaurant for giving hot coffee and food for firefighters. According to Environment Canada, temperatures in Quesnel dropped to -25 by the time firefighters left the scene.
