Alex Chore

Alex was born in Coalhurst, Alberta and his family moved to Kelowna when he was a small child.

Alex is survived by his wife Lena of 53 years, son Charles (Brenda) and daughter Linda (Ches) Beerling, four grandchildren Brad, Caillieh, Torie and Daniel, two sisters Thelma (John) and Wilma (Julius) of Kelowna, two sisters-in-law Carol (Jules) and Joann and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alex was predeceased by his father Alex in 1954, his mother Roza in 1987, brother Ernie in 1998 and brother Bill in 1997.

Alex and Lena owned and operated an orchard in the Ellison district of Kelowna while raising their family, and then ventured into trucking and excavating.

In 1977, Alex and Charles relocated to Quesnel to work for Alex’s brother-in-law Joe Kopetski and Lena followed in 1978.

Alex enjoyed hunting and looked forward to spending time camping and fishing with his grandchildren. Also, four-wheeling with Brenda.

In October 1964, Alex was awarded the Canadian Humane Society Medal of Bravery for entering a burning house and saving the life of a young child.

A memorial tea was held at Barlow Creek Hall on March 11, 2007.
