September 28, 1943 - November 24, 2019
Born September 28, 1943 passed away Suddenly in Niland California on November 24, 2019.
He met and married the love of his life Karen in Oliver, BC. In 1964. They had 4 children Russell (Patsy), Michelle (Thomas), Chris (Stacy), Melanie. They blessed his life with 13 grandkids and 5 great-grands who brought so much joy and laughter into his life. Much of Sandy's life was spent behind the wheel of a truck; from Safeway to owning his own logging truck and then at Inland Kenworth where he retired. He then moved onto Integrity Auto for 5 years after which he and Karen bought a motorhome and began their life of travelling for the past 11 years. They had the opportunity to travel the world visiting all 7 continents, with so many cultures and people.
In between travelling he took time to visit his kids in each city where they lived, and in usual Sandy fashion, a job found him. He spent 3 summers and 1 winter season working at "The Outpost" in Winter Harbour, Vancouver Island. The last 7 Spring/Summer seasons at Tranquille Farm Fresh in Kamloops, BC. Their past 10 winters had been spent in Niland, CA at Glamis North Hot Springs, where of course he volunteered his expertise in pretty much everything (doing his Sandy-thing) and exploring the desert on his quad with family and friends.
Sandy loved volunteering, so he was able to combine that with his travels. Which included Habitat for Humanity, an animal rescue in New Mexico, USA, as well as Mission Builders in Townsville, Australia.
So many good things can be said about Sandy, he was generous with his time and energies, he was kind and willing to help everyone. He was always stopping to talk to someone new and share stories. Meaningful relationships were built wherever he traveled He will be greatly missed.
Service to be held to commemorate his life, on December 7th, @ 1 pm at the Senior Centre in Quesnel, B.C. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SPCA in recognition of his love for animals.
