Allen George Lorenz

September 11, 2004

Allen George Lorenz passed away Sept. 11, 2004 at the young age of 47 after a brief struggle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He passed away peacefully at home, as was his wish, surrounded by his loved ones. Allen was born November 18, 1956 in the GR Baker hospital. He was a quiet but strong boy with a love of hockey and a passion for outdoors. Fishing, canoeing, skidooing, and trapping are simple hobbies that brought Allen the most pleasure. At a young age, Allen earned his welding certificate and after a few jobs became a long-time employee as a welder on maintenance at West Fraser Mills. His love and respect for his wife, Debbie, was touching and created an excellent role model for all. His first and only grandson, Kenan, was a comfort to have around for the innocence and purity of a baby always brings a smile to one’s face. Allen is survived by his wife, Debra Jennings, his step-son Travis Jennings, his step-daughter Tanya Wenger (Admir Hanic) and grandson Kenan. Also by his parents George and Bernice Lorenz, brothers Brian (Jackie), Michael (Iris), and sister Kathleen (Mike) Legere, all of Quesnel and sister Leanne Rawling from Prince George. He will also be greatly missed by in-laws Barb and Larry Erickson, brothers-in-law Lloyd and Daryl (Crystal) and sister-in-law Barb, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews and a great many special friends. A celebration of life was held for Allen on September 15, 2004 at Clayton’s Funeral Chapel followed by a tea at the Legion. In memory of Allen, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. The family of Allen Lorenz wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to all those for their support, generosity and prayers during this past month. Thank you to those who brought food and those who came to visit and sit with Allen. It meant a lot to him and was a comfort to his family. Thank you to all of the family’s employers for being flexible with work schedules to allow us the opportunity to spend as much time with Allen as possible. A special thank you to the employees of West Fraser mills and Al’s crew. Your support and friendship was very important to Al. Thanks to Carol, Debbie and the girls at the Talisman for their support. Thanks to Claytons Funeral Home, Reverend Teri Meyer, and to Candace and Jackie, the home care nurses, for all their information and help. We are so grateful and give thanks to all our friends, acquaintances and even to strangers in the community, who were there for Allen and for us. You are too numerous to mention, but each individual made a invaluable contribution.
