In Loving Memory ~
Andy passed away peacefully on September 2nd in Richmond, B.C.
Andy is survived by Stephen (Marta) and Dennis (Shannon) and his four grandchildren, Daniella, Gabriella, Joshua, and Olivia.
Andy was born in Eger, Hungary, on August 7th, 1934. Andy's studies at Sopron University were cut short when he left Hungary during the 1956 Revolution. Andy came to Canada in 1957, completing his Bachelor of Science in Forestry at UBC in 1959.
Andy married his loving spouse, Eszter, in 1963, first settling in Williams Lake, then shortly afterwards moving to Quesnel.
Andy had a very distinguished career working for the forestry company Weldwood of Canada in Quesnel, starting in 1965 up until his retirement in 1995.
Andy received Mr. Tennis B.C. in 1984 for his decades of volunteering, and teaching tennis to youths and adults in Quesnel. In 1994, Andy received the Distinguished Forester Award in B.C. and was very proud to represent the Sopron class when he received the prestigious designation.
In Andy's later part of his career, he became the President of the Vernon Seed Orchard Company, a position that he felt positively influenced reforestation in B.C.
In Andy's retirement, he enjoyed travelling with his wife, Eszter, and together they saw many great places. Eszter predeceased Andy in 2015.
Andy was very proud to be a loving husband, dad, and grandfather. The best times for Andy were the family get-togethers, where there was lots of laughter and stories.
Andy's love of his grandchildren gave him great joy and pride watching them grow into adulthood.
Andy felt blessed for the life he lived, friends, Sopron/ UBC classmates, and his family will miss him dearly.
Special thanks to the staff at Courtyard Gardens in Richmond, who looked after Andy with the utmost care and compassion during his time at the residence.
