It is with the deepest sense of loss the family of Barbara Ritson announce the passing of their beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She passed away peacefully November 17, 2014, with family at her side.
Barbara was born in Victoria, B.C. to Ray and Madge Meldram. She attended school in Victoria and it was also there that she met her husband, Alex Ritson. In 1952, Barb and Alex moved to Quesnel where she was a member of the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary for a number of years.
She will be remembered fondly for her kindness and generosity - No one ever left her house hungry. There was always a treat waiting for you, a story to tell, or a laugh to share; and, she never overlooked a moment to tell her family how much she loved them.
Barbara was predeceased by Alex in July 2008.
She is survived by her daughter Donna (Steve) Tansky, son Craig (Ingrid) Ritson, grandchildren: Stephannie Tansky-Neary, Jennifer Tansky-Cookson, Kirstin Ritson, Brett Ritson, Heather Thompson, Patrick Thompson, Katie (Greg) Wilks, great-gradchildren; Aura, Brandon, Gracie, Leighton and Gabriel.
A special thank you to her friends, family, neighbours and caregivers who always seemed to brighten her day.
As her final wish was to someday return to her beloved Victoria, there will be a private service held there in the spring.
