With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Barry Allan Armstrong of Quesnel B.C. at the age of 64.
Barry was the second-born son of Norman and Betty Armstrong in Mission B.C. Within the year, the family moved north to Quesnel and settled in Bouchie Lake which turned out to be a great place to grow up. Sports were always a big part of Barry's life whether it was pewee, bantam or the gentlemen's / Oldtimer's hockey league. Barry tied up those ice skates and was a force to be reckoned with.
A little soccer, lacrosse and pitching softball with the Rustler's. Barry was always a good sport with a huge smile on his face. Barry opted out of school at 16 and worked with Jhon Ernest Mills where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for most of his 44 years until his retirement of now Tolko in 2019.
The good job came and so did his love of cars, first of a Mercury Comet and that pretty black Nova which was drawn to a big moose. A sad day at 6-mile hill. We would often see Barry and his wife Gaby at the car shows with their 1991 Mustang which Barry modified several times over.
Barry was seen, as often as he could, leaning against the glass in hockey rings cheering on his grandkids, nieces and nephews while they played hockey, just a little notice and he would be there.
Barry was also very happy to hang out, with his Tim's coffee in hand chatting and watching hockey and baseball on TV with family and friends, his faves were Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Canadians and the Blue Jays.
Barry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of just about 30 years Gaby, his daughters Stephanie and Samantha and son-in-law Cody, his grandchildren Cassidhe and Jacob, his sister Shawna and husband Rod, his brothers Norm and Richard and his wife Pam, many nieces and nephews and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life on his 65th birthday July 29th, 2023, at 2520 Norwood Rd, Bouchie Lake.
