We regret to announce the passing of Catherine E. Martin. She passed away peacefully at Dunrovin Park Lodge on January 9th, 2017 with her family at her side.

Catherine was born in Richmond, California on June 20, 1930. She was the oldest of three children and when quite young, they moved to Vancouver, B.C. with her mom, brother and sister. They later moved to Penticton where she met her husband Bob. They were married on July 23rd, 1949 and were together for 55 years until Bob passed away in 2004.

Bob and Cathy moved to Quesnel in the early 1950’s and stayed for many years and raised their family. They left for McLeese Lake when Bob got a job at Gibraltar Mines. Cathy spent many hours at the lake swimming with the grandkids and visiting with friends.

They moved back to Quesnel when Bob retired and were happy to be back close to family.

Cathy loved to be surrounded by family, friends and especially loved her animals. She had a few pets through the years and loved them all dearly. Nobody ever left her house hungry and she loved to cook. That was her greatest pride in life, (Being a great cook). Cathy was a member of the Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary and always talked about the good times she had with them.

She spent many hours playing cards, especially cribbage. She taught all the grandkids how to play it. A good murder mystery was never far from her hand and she also loved doing crossword puzzles until arthritis showed up.

Cathy’s great sense of humor and sharp wit will be missed.

Catherine is survived by her sister Patricia Payne of Gibson, B.C.; her four sons Robert (Janice) of Quesnel, Allan (Teri) of Chilliwack, B.C., Brian (Verna) of Quesnel, Richard (Shauna) of Cranbrook, BC., 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her mother Catherine L. Payne, her brother John Payne, her husband Robert S. Martin, her daughter Cynthia M. Morrison, and her grandson Douglas R. Martin.

There is no service at her request. A summer ceremony will take place at Tranquility Gardens in Quesnel where Catherine will rest peacefully with her daughter.

The family would like to thank everyone at Dunrovin Park Lodge. All departments had an impact on Catherine’s care and well being and

you all made a difference in her life.

Thank you especially to Dr. Moussa.
