It is with great sorrow that the Lee family announces the passing of Chow Gerald Lee, on February 24, 2009.

Chow was born on the family farm at Castlerock on November 6, 1918 and remained there ranching for the rest of his life. In 1958 he married Sue and together they raised five sons and a daughter. To support his family, Chow had an extensive vegetable garden and raised beef, sheep and pigs. The local stores in Quesnel and Williams Lake bought the bulk of his vegetables. Chow also did some logging and saw milling. In later years he concentrated mainly on raising beef and logging with the help of his children and grandchildren.

Chow was a sociable person and was a fixture at the Williams Lake Stockyard; he also enjoyed attending the local dances, auctions and visiting the neighbours. His and Sue’s home was open to all and everyone loved to go there for a meal. There was usually more than family around the dinner table.

Because of his health, Chow was forced to retire but continued to participate in life at Maple House. Until the end he remained an active and engaged member of his family, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a good friend to many residents and staff.

Chow was pre-deceased by his father Sing Lee, mother Chin Len Gue Lee, brothers Meng Foo, Cooey, Henry and Willie and sisters Lin Fone Jung and Maggie.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sue, sons; Herb (Leslie), Gerald (Kim), Calvin (Lucy), Alan, Johnny and daughter Mary, grandchildren; Spencer (Veronica), Joey (Ashley), Janneh and Caitlyn, great grandchildren; Olin, Emma, Damon, and one on the way, brother; Danny, sister; Jenny.

A funeral service was held at Maple Park Alliance Church, Saturday, February 28, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
