Christian Walker (Chris), the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Walker passed away at Dunrovin Lodge on December 31, 2005.

Chris is predeceased by his parents, three brothers (Ed, Ted and Alvin), and three sisters (Alvina, Rose and Lydia).

He is survived by his two brothers, Bill (Lil) of Salmon Arm, B.C., Herb (Leona) of Calgary, Alta., and his sister, Viola Harrison of Victoria, B.C. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who will sadly miss him.

Chris was born in Hilda, Alberta on April 13, 1913. He then moved with his family to Maidstone and Lashburn areas of Saskatchewan, where he worked as a farm hand on various farms in the area.

In the early 1940’s, Chris moved to Vegreville, Alberta, then on to B.C. where he worked in the lower mainland at construction, with plaster and stucco being his specialty.

In 1955, Chris moved to Quesnel where he resided until his passing. He continued with his stucco and plastering for a few years and then went to work for West Fraser Mills where he spent the rest of his working life. Chris thoroughly enjoyed his time with the company until his retirement.

In his younger years, Chris enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go on various hunting, fishing and camping expeditions. In his later years, Chris would reminisce with his old buddies and talk about old times of hunting and fishing with his friends over a cup of coffee at a local Quesnel restaurant.

Chris’ favorite pastime was farming. He enjoyed tending to livestock and one of his favorite times was the fall cattle sale in Williams Lake. He was known as a shrewd buyer by the auctioneers and always seemed to get a good price for cattle. Chris loved all animals and was rarely without a dog and a cat. For a number of years he kept a horse, and even had a lamb that would follow him around his farm at Moose Heights.

The Walker family would like to express a sincere ‘Thank You’ to all the staff at Dunrovin Lodge, especially to the nurses and caregivers who were so wonderful to Chris during his last days and to Clayton Funeral Directors Ltd. for their guidance and help.

A memorial service for Chris will be held in the Spring of 2006. In lieu of flowers, a donations in Chris’ memory may be made to Dunrovin Lodge.
