Christopher Gignac

April 24, 2004

It is with great sadness that we announce that Christopher Gignac passed away on April 24, 2004 at the age of 20.

Chris was born on October 28, 1983 in Terrace and moved to Prince George, Inuvik and finally to Quesnel in 1994.

He graduated from Quesnel Secondary School in 2001, and went on to receive his certificate in Northern Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism. In addition, he thoroughly enjoyed his time working at both Troll Ski Resort and West Central Pipe. Always outdoors, Chris could be found snowboarding, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, wake boarding or playing soccer with his friends. Chris loved living in Quesnel because here he was surrounded by his large family, genuine friends and a vast wilderness in which to do his sports in. Chris will be forever remembered for his energy, fun-loving enthusiasm and for his “I can do anything” attitude.

Chris is lovingly remembered by his father and mother Michael and Darlene Gignac, his girlfriend Brittany Marsh, great grandmother Leah Ward of Ontario, grandparents Cliff and Madge Heppner of Quesnel and Dorothy Gignac of Newmarket, Ontario, aunts and uncles Calvin and Cathy Kirsh and family, Angie and Dean Miller and family and Craig and Susan Heppner and family of Quesnel, Allan and Carol Kirkland and family and Janie and John Petrovich and family of Ontario. He was predeceased by his grandfather George Gignac.

The family would like to formally thank the following people of G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital for their hard work and compassionate effort during Chris’ care: Dr. Casses, Dr. Mansour, Dr. Grapes and Dr. Stals, all the nurses on duty April 23 and 24 including Holly, Laurie, Colleen, Shelley, Annie, Ray and all others we failed to mention. Thank you also the lab, x-ray, OR and ICU staff, your work did not go unnoticed.

Additionally, we are grateful for the overwhelming support from friends and family who were able to come to our home and be with us in this time of great need. Thank you to all those who brought food and flowers to our home, this gesture was greatly appreciated.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Colin and Karen Keis, Tom and Linda Duncan, Carol and Rob McGregor, Joe and Nadine Loescher, Lynn and Janie Kirkham and to all of Chris’ friends for their generosity and support.

Contributions in Christopher’s name can be made to Troll Ski Resort/Terrain Park.
