Daisy Locke

December 2, 2005

Daisy Locke was born in 1911 to David and Amy Higdon on the Higdon Ranch, south west of Quesnel.

She gained her education by riding horseback or on a buggy or sleigh, to town, crossing the river in a large canoe or ferry.

She married Andrew Locke in 1937 and they lived in the Locke Heritage house on the corner of Front St. and Laurent St.

Andy passed away in 1956.

Daisy had various jobs in Quesnel and she moved to Vancouver in 1968.

Daisy loved to walk, about an hour and half each day and alot of time was spent at the public library in S. Granville.

Her other passion was travel. She made trips to California, Missouri, Mexico and Eastern Canada, but her favorite was Hawaii, where she went many times.

As she was in poor health, she moved back to Quesnel in 2001.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, husband Andrew, sister Alice Palmer, brothers Jess and Ken (Higdon).

She is survived by sister Gretta Bracken, sister-in-law May Higdon and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will take place in mid March 2006.

A donation in Daisy’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care at Baker Memorial Hospital.
