In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that the family of Dan Campbell must announce his passing.
Dan was born in Aldergrove in November of 1984 to parents David and Donna Campbell, the 5th of of 8 children. At the age of 8 he moved with his family to Quesnel where he grew up a farm boy, attended school and graduated from Correlieu, eventually acquiring his red seal ticket as millwright, making friends everywhere along the way.
Dan loved talking trucks and motors, and enjoyed few things more than wrenching away in the shop with "the boys" through the night and until the early hours of the morning. He loved mechanics and was an enthusiastic horticulturist in his spare time.
He played a big role in the lives of his family and friends, always willing to help when a hand was needed and frequently checking in on friends and family for a visit.
In 2016 at the age of 31 Dan and the family were devastated to learn of a diagnosis of MS. Though the last several years of the disease robbed Dan of his strength and abilities, he never lost his sense of humour. Even when things were grim his smile could still light up a room.
God blessed Dan and our family with his brother Drew who became Dan's caretaker the last years of his life. Drew took Dan with him everywhere he went and Dan was still able to enjoy hanging out at Drew's shop where he could talk trucks with the boys. In January, as Dan's health diminished he was admitted to the Christine Morrison Hospice wing of the Mission Memorial Hospital where he spent the last months of his life. Drew diligently visited him morning and evening to keep him company.
The family would like to thank Dan's exceptional care aid Jeannie Derton for everything she has done for Dan, as well as Dr. Jeff Kornelsen, the Mission Health team, all the staff at the hospital, and Drew, for standing by his brother's side and doing so much to comfort him as Dan fought an incredibly brave fight.
A memorial, followed by a tea, will be held on October 26 at 2:30 in Quesnel, at the Maple Park Alliance church. Please join us in remembering Dan.
