Darwin Louis Netzel, of Armstrong, BC, passed away peacefully in Vernon on the evening of November 3rd, 2021. Darwin had a most eclectic career, working over the years as a log scaler, car salesman, Tandy Leather store manager and eventual Western Regional Manager, and pool hall owner. He finished his career as an insurance adjuster, operating his own adjusting firm, Inland Claims Ltd., in Quesnel, BC. For a period of time during his years as an adjuster, Darwin was also the Quesnel & Region Coroner for the Government of BC.
Darwin and Gail's early lives were spent in Vavenby and Kamloops, BC then on to Prince George, BC for a few years before moving to Lethbridge and Calgary, AB for about decade. After returning to BC, they moved to Quesnel for 25 years before finally retiring to Armstrong, BC in 2007.
Darwin met his wife Gail in early 1963 and were married in June of 1964. He's survived by Gail and his children, David and Rhonda (Kristine). Darwin is also survived by his only sister Deanna (Abe, dec.), twin brother Darrell (Lorelie), and younger brothers, Stan (Marilyn), Ken (Jeanette), and Keith (Kathy), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Gail would like to extend special thanks to Melinda Hambly and her staff at the Heritage Square long-term care facility in Vernon for their care of Darwin in the final two years of his life.
A celebration of Darwin's life will be held in Spring of 2022.
