August 11, 1949 - December 25, 2019
David Joseph Kopetski passed away suddenly on December 25, 2019. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him - he will remain in our hearts forever.
David was born on August 11, 1949 in Kelowna, BC, the third child of Joe & Irene Kopetski. The family moved to Cache Creek, Quesnel and then to Moose Heights. After graduation, David worked at the Toronto Dominion Bank. He then transferred to Vancouver where he later worked at many different jobs including Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken, CIBC in a branch as well as their Visa Centre. Before moving back to Quesnel, he had temporary jobs at Greyhound and a fish cannery.
After his return to Quesnel, David took excellent care of Mom always making sure that she got out and about and visited many friends and family. It was David's dedication that allowed Mom to be able to spend her last days at home with her family. David also made sure that Dad was taken care of and comfortable at home and later at Dunrovin. We are all grateful to him for that.
Being an uncle to so many kids made David very happy. He had such a good relationship with each and every one of them. At times it was difficult to tell who was the adult and who was the kid. David always had time for every child he came across and made many friends along the way.
David cherished people above all else. He always had time to stop and chat or help someone out no matter how busy he was.
He was an active member of the Family Fun Team for Terry Fox and helped out anywhere he was needed throughout the community.
David was the family historian and keeper of so many records, pictures and family items. He made and maintained contact with many relatives that otherwise would have been lost to us. He traced the family back several generations and was one of the driving forces behind family reunions and continued contact with the extended family.
David is lovingly survived in the heart of his father Joe Kopetski, his siblings Joyce Standbridge, Elmer Kopetski, Judith McKenzie, Rosemarie McKay, MaryAnn Kopetski, Elaine Kopetski and Janice (Gary) McLean, his nieces & nephews Katherine (Dustin), Shawn (Geneva), Chris (Amanda), Eric, Blair, Adrienne, Marvin (Shawna), Melinda (Troy), Jenny (Eric), Scott (Kathryn), Jeremy and Matthew and great nieces & nephews Emily, Daryl, Carly, Tommy, Emily, Jacob, Lucas, Sienna, James (Stacey), Rilee, Noah, Hailey, Ian and Warren. David will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles & cousins. He will also be remembered by countless friends, acquaintances and random strangers he would stop to talk to.
Greeting him in Heaven are his mother Irene Kopetski, grandparents Josef & Katherine Kopetski, Frank & Mary Yager and brothers-in-law Jim McKenzie, Mike Standbridge and Stan McKay.
David was a Devoted & Caring Son, Dependable & Mischievous Brother, Proud & Fun-Loving Uncle, Compassionate Friend and Wacky Partner in Crime with Shane.
