I have lost my life's companion ~
David was born in North Battlefield, Saskatchewan, to Daphne and William Hopkins, and grew up in Wilkie, Saskatchewan.
He loved to work, starting at a very young age. Helping others was his passion. He moved to Vancouver in 1948, working first in a furniture manufacturing company and then on to the sawmill industry, where he eventually become responsible for building and managing mills throughout British Columbia.
His experience in sawmills provided the skills to fix almost anything, and his ability was matched by his intelligence and will to solve and fix problems large and small for his family, friends and neighbours.
Dave and Pat moved to Vernon, BC in 1978 where they became good friends and neighbours to everyone they met. Dave will be fondly remembered for his kindness
and helpful generosity.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, eldest son Ken, grandson Dustin, brother Ed, sister, Joyce.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Pat (Johnston), their 2 sons, Rick (Heather) of Fort St. John, Ray of Quesnel and their daughter Louise (Ross) of Quesnel, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
His ashes will be interred in Quesnel at the Tranquility Garden Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
