Barton, Dawna Marie passed away peacefully on March 9, 2018 at age 79 in Prince George Hospice with family by her side.
Gone to join her loving husband Bill and many cherished relatives that predeceased her.
Survived by her sisters Joyce Stewart of Williams Lake, Virginia (Robert) Norcross of Duncan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Duncan BC July 29, 1938, Dawna and Bill lived for a time in Chemainus before settling in Quesnel. Dawna lived a frugal life as a genuine cowgirl, devoted to ranching, gardening, hunting, archery and her horses and dogs. Fiercely independent to the end, she lived quietly on her farm, supported by her many friends in Quesnel.
She was a one of a kind, memorable character. Dawna had a sharp wit and a gift of the ability to recount family stories and accurately recall people's names and important dates.
Coffee or tea was always on, and if you were hungry a good meal of venison was readily served up. No service by request.
According to her wishes, Dawna's ashes will be taken back to Duncan in the Spring.
