Edward deWit

September 13, 2005

Edward deWit passed away peacefully on September 13, 2005 at the age of 57 years at Campbell River hospital after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons and MSA disease.

Ed was born in Holland, January 2, 1948. He worked in Quesnel for many years then moved to Williams Lake and then made his home in Campbell River. Ed enjoyed fishing, family gatherings and making everyone laugh with his teasing and jokes. He had a great sense of humor, broad smile and contagious laugh. Ed adored his children and grandchildren. Ed and Linda always had their home and hearts open. They took in many foster children for many years. Ed was always refereed to as the ‘Gentle Giant’.

Ed was the beloved husband of Linda, loving father of Dedra (Rodney), Samantha, dear grandpa of Jaycen and Shania, loving son of Tina deWit, brother of Rika (Ted), Marianne (Steve), Nelly (Ted), Ena (Rick), brother Nick deWit, numerous nieces and nephews, and many extended family and friends.

Ed was predeceased by his father Peter deWit in 1983 and son Jason in 1997, foster son Michael, two infant sisters.

Ed will be sadly missed by all that knew him. We will always remember the courageous fighting spirit he had to battle this disease for many years. He always had a good spirit and stayed as positive as he could, never letting his disability keep him down.

A special thanks to Linda and Dedra for opening your homes at such a difficult time and Fred, a long time friend, for supporting Ed’s family in their time of need. Thanks for all the prayers and support for mom and Ed’s family, Dedra and Samantha for the beautiful memories, Jaycen and Shania for the lovely song, Rika, Pearl and Annemarie for sharing the memories.

A celebration of Ed’s life was held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005 at the Christian life Fellowship in Campbell River, B.C.

Thy Trials ended,

Thy Rest is won.
