Flavia Giovanna Gook (Lazzarin) passed away peacefully at the Quesnel Hospital on the 19th of December, 2010 in her 89th year. Flavia was a vibrant lady, full of life and joy. She had a fabulous sense of humor and was quick to laugh. From her earliest years she brought to all facets of her life a style and grace that were manifestations of her beauty, thoughtfulness, generosity, kindness, intelligence, compassion and above all her love for life.

It is with great sorrow that we mourn our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and dear friend. Flavia was dearly loved and leaves behind her beloved husband of 64 years, Richard Gook, her sister Fioretta Lazzarin and sister-in -law Gloria Lazzarin and their families as well as her four children Betty Ambery, Judith McGregor, Richard Gook Jr (Monica Poelzer), and Carolyn Jacob (Norman) and eleven grandchildren Jessica Place (Shawn), Hilary McGregor, Andrew Ambery, Geordie McGregor, Carmen Ambery (Christian Boucher), William McGregor (Kristi), Celia Ambery (David Roulston), Kristy Poelzer, Gabrielle Jacob, Noah Jacob and Emmanuelle Jacob. This October, Flavia and Richard’s first great grandchild, Benjamin Place, was born. Flavia is pre-deceased by her younger brother John Lazzarin and mother and father Carlotta and John Lazzarin.

Flavia was a keeper of her family, hosting numerous family gatherings at her home over-looking Dragon Lake. She was welcoming, kind and generous. She cooked delicious summer feasts with food grown in her garden and fed the hay crews each summer. Flavia baked delicious huckleberry pies, made the perfect cup of tea and always had the tastiest treats on the table. She loved to keep in touch with her numerous friends living throughout BC and around the world. She was tender and gentle, and all of us who experienced her care and support will never forget her loving ways. Flavia will be greatly missed.

Flavia was a beautiful musician in her younger years and instilled a love for music in her children. Flavia and Richard were avid square dancers, travelling to both Europe and the USA a number of times.

Flavia kept a welcoming home that family members and friends would travel far and long to return to.

For friends and relatives of Flavia, a funeral service will be held at the Anglican Church in Quesnel on December 28th at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation could be made to the GR Baker Memorial Hospital.

The family would like to thank the nurses at the Quesnel Hospital and Dr. Walker for his compassionate care of dear Flavia.
