Gary passed away at Baker Lodge on June 18, 2005. Gary was born in Vernon on Jan 4, 1942 to Bill and Hanna Marchand Fraser. His mother Hanna died in 1947 and Marie the eldest sister became the principal caregiver for Gary, his brother and sisters. Gary went to work at a very early age in the forest industry near Golden, BC. He moved to Quesnel in 1963 where he continued in the forest industry either falling or operating a cat. He became a contractor in 1973, employing 8 men. He also made roads for new subdivisions that are still in use today in the 9 Mile and Pinnacle areas. Gary married Irene Lyne in 1969. They had two children, Kristy and Shawn. In 1978 Gary was severely injured in a falling accident and as a result became a paraplegic. He was predeceased by his son Shawn in 1986, brother Jim in 2001 and sister Jean in 2003. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Kristy, granddaughter Samantha, sisters Marie and Thelma and may other family members and friends.
A memorial tea was held in his honor at the Kersley Hall.
