It is with sadness we announce the passing of George Murray. George is survived by his children Les (Marie) Murray, Nancy (Nathan Kew) and Wendy (Mark) Forsythe, grandchildren; Austin, Alexi, Bryce, Lance, Matthew, Allison, Natalie and Geordy and his two sisters; Edna & Linda.

He was predeceased by his wife Hilda, his granddaughter Miranda, his parents, and his six siblings; Joe, Lois, Burleigh, Roy, Joan and Jim.

George was born in Manitoba, moving to North Vancouver and finally to Quesnel in 1945. He worked as a truck driver, at the Plywood plant, was a custodian and drove bus for the School District. He retired from the school district as the Grounds Foreman. As a young man George played hockey and baseball.

He was part of the original Kangaroo Hockey Association and coached minor hockey. Once he was retired he spent time playing golf, working on his yard, and puttering in his shop. George and Hilda also enjoyed many years camping in their fifth wheel.

He volunteered as part of the Red Bluff Ratepayers. He was on the board for Dragon Lake Water Improvement district. Finally he served on the Area Planning Committee for Area A of the Cariboo Regional District.

After his retirement he delivered Meals on Wheels to the elderly & volunteered with the Red Cross Loan cupboard.

George and Hilda were proud of their well kept home on Dragon Lake, where they resided for 45 years. George especially enjoyed tending to his yard and shop.

George cared for Hilda as she declined with dementia before finally moving into Dunrovin in their final years.

George was a devoted husband, gentle father and grandfather. He was a kind, helpful neighbour and a friend to many in our community.

He is missed.
