It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Robert Allen announce his sudden passing on May 31, 2010.

Gerry was born in Enderby, BC on January 12, 1949 to Bert and Bertha Allen. He and his family moved to Vernon, BC in the early 1950’s, where he later met and married Judy Watson.

Gerry and Judy moved to Quesnel in 1972, when Gerry was offered a position with the Ministry of Transportation. They had three children before separating in 1991.

The following year Gerry met the love of his life, Marney Simms. Gerry and Marney were married in November 1997, and Gerry gained a large extended family that he loved as his own.

Gerry worked for the Ministry of Transportation for 40 years and was a dedicated employee. Although work took up a lot of his time, Gerry was also dedicated to the love and care of his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a man that touched us all in many ways and gave us so many memories. Gerry will be greatly missed in all aspects of his life.

Gerry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marney, children Brent (Tanya), Doug, Chandra (Brian), grandchildren, Payton, Austin, Noah, Mikayla, Mitchell, Josie, Nicole, Brandy, Ashley, Melissa, Cory, Mariah, Bonesy, great grandchildren, Weston, Danny, Lochlan, mother Bertha Pinel, brothers Stanley (Marilyn), Bruce and many nieces, nephews, extended family and lifelong friends.

Gerry was predeceased by his father Bert and sister Mona.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the following, Clayton’s Funeral Home for their care and compassion, Leslie Cameron (Coroner) and Dawn Morley (Victim Services), Calvin and Lucy Lee for the use of the clubhouse for the Memorial Tea, everyone who sent food, flowers, and prepared food for the family and the tea, the overwhelming support of our friends, family and work associates.

A service was held on June 5th at Claytons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Quesnel SPCA in Gerry’s memory.

We love you GG.
